How to Choose Gear for family campsites
Camping for family campsites: what matters, what to skip and how to choose — by Oticd Outdoors.
Good gear for family campsites is about reliability, not logos. Oticd Outdoors tests kit in real conditions and explains what is worth carrying and what is dead weight.
What matters on the trail
For family campsites, weight, weather resistance and fit matter more than feature lists. Start with the conditions you actually expect.
Our shortlist
We compare family campsites options on durability, packability and comfort, then rank them by value for weekend hikers and campers.
Weight and packability
Every gram counts on a long day. We note packed size and carry comfort so you can balance weight against features.
Weather and durability
Seams, coatings and hardware fail first. We look at how the gear holds up to rain, abrasion and repeated use.
Where to save and where to spend
Spend on the parts that keep you dry and comfortable; save on accessories that are easy to replace.
The right choice for family campsites is the one you will actually use. Test your kit close to home and replace it only when it stops doing its job.
